My work is inspired by nostalgia - mainly British history and the narrative behind the people and the places. I am fascinated by the ambiguity of old, hand-written documents and by the generations which are captured in the photographs and postcards belonging to my Grandparents.
My collection combines my interest in the past with my love of Britain’s coast, celebrating the rich history of seaside towns and mirroring things like heavily eroded piers. For me, the layers of rust and barnacles which have inspired me are metaphorical, representing layers of history and narrative. Through the use of my Grandma’s old photographs, my pieces link back to bygone days, retelling some of the stories surrounding our coastline.
